Selection & Project Review
01 Application Boundary
J1939 is a family of SAE documents for heavy-duty vehicle networking, not the name of one universal cable. A released assembly must identify the applicable connector, keying, populated cavities, network channel, bit rate, power path, shielding or twisted-pair construction, topology, device-side interface and operating environment.
02 Project Inputs
Provide the vehicle or equipment maker, model and year; engine and controller identifiers; connector color and mating-face photographs; released pin map; required network channel and speed; tool or device interface; whether the lead is for diagnostics, logging, telematics or permanent installation; cable length and branch datums; sealing, abrasion, temperature and chemical exposure; quantity; labels;
03 Release Records
We convert approved interface and network information into controlled drawings, connector and terminal BOMs, cable definitions, branch dimensions, molding or backshell requirements, identification and test programs. Production checks can verify construction and pin mapping; live J1939 communication requires the specified vehicle, controller, simulator or approved network fixture and an agreed functional scope.
04 Interface Review
Confirm the exact mating interface, pin map, dimensions and installation orientation.
05 Sample Acceptance
Agree the sample configuration and electrical, mechanical or environmental checks required by the project.
06 Change Control
Record changes to materials, drawings and process instructions before repeat manufacture.
Send the part number, drawing or sample to confirm the replacement configuration and sourcing plan.
